Güde Solingen 1910

Karl Güde founded the Solingen knife factory in 1910. From the beginning, he focused on high-quality knives forged from one piece of steel in the die, which were sharpened and honed by hand.

In 1923, his son Franz Güde took over the knife forge. He is deeply involved in the development of new grindings and grinding processes.

He introduces the three palms as Güde’s trademark and invents the “Güde serrated edge” with pointed teeth. This significantly increases the cutting ability and edge retention.

In 1954, Franz Dietrich Güde takes over his parents’ business and invests more in production equipment in order to maintain and develop the business in the era of increasing automation.

1983 marks the beginning of the era of Dr. Karl Peter Born.

The grandson of Franz Güde takes over the management of the manufactory and consistently leads it back to its origins. Small quantities and the highest quality standards. Function-oriented design and sharpest blades are his claim.
