Hand-forged forestry tools from the German tool manufacturer Krumpholz. Krumpholz has been forging since 1799 and is still family owned. Forestry equipment is forged from Swedish steel at the highest quality level. Durable, resilient ash wood or hard hickory wood is used for the wooden handles and grips. Best quality for highest demands in forestry work.
Notes on the hickory handle:
Hickory is a North American tree of the walnut genus. The wood is perfect for heavy-duty stems. It is firm, flexible and elastic and absorbs hard shocks well. Due to its long wood fibers, it can withstand a much higher load than the already stable ash wood. Hickory handles almost never break completely, providing a safety advantage over ash handles.
Care instructions
Dry blades and wood after use. Storage in dry and unheated rooms, barns or garden sheds. When stored in heated rooms, the stem dries out and loses elasticity. The stem can then break more easily than with proper storage. If necessary, lightly treat the handle with a wood oil or linseed oil.
